PS Jailbreak - Install Your PS3 Games To Your Hard Drive With The Worlds First PS3 Modchip
Along comes the PS Jailbreak. Or as some call it the PS3 Jailbreak and PS3 Modchip. Its a small USB dongle, that tells the PS3 that it's okay to install games on to your PS3 hard drive and then will also allow you to load them from there too, sands the disc.
It works, or rather, installs, just like the USB modchip for the PS2. No wiring, and no soldering. While the USB mod for the Playstation 2 was somewhat limited in what it could do, the PS Jailbreak is not.
The PS Jailbreak is exactly the same type of modchip. Just plug it into the USB port on the PS3 and you're all set. You'll then need to use another USB Flash drive to install your homebrew games and applications such as the backup manager.
Many people didn’t think that a PS3 modchip was possible, as it’s been several years since the release of the PS3 console itself, and no modchip for the PS3 ever surfaced.
The thing that amazes me however is not so much the modchip, but that it can be installed and used as easily as it can be. No soldering or wiring at all, and you don't need some engineering degree to figure out where to put it..
Most modchips for any other consoles, certainly first generation modchips, always required installation by way of solder anywhere from 10 - 40 wires internally on to the main board of the game system. I'm stunned, and very thankful, that this is NOT the case with the PS Jailbreak at all. It really is just a simple plug in and play solutions.
The backup manager software that comes with the PS Jailbreak is what makes all of this so magical. Once you've plugged in the PS3 modchip, you then have to install the Backup Manager. It will show up as a new icon under your GAMES menu.
When you select and load the backup manager, all you have to do is insert any PS3 game disc, and the option to install the game will come up on screen. you choose YES, then you'll see the game install right before your eyes, and also see the progress of the installation just like any firmware update would show you how much time is needed or how much of the game is installed.
The installation time varies based on the game you are installing, but so far, I have not had any game take more than 5 minutes to install.
And this is where the fun part starts. Now that your game is installed on to your internal or external hard drive, you’ll once again be able to go into the backup manager and it’ll show a full list of all of your games already installed. Just click on the game you want to play, and it will load for you instantly.
Once installed, the games themselves are playing much faster and load time have gone down to almost nothing at all when I am loading up a game or going from one stage to the next. What you'll notice right away is that games load super fast. SO fast that you're going to wonder how you ever played the game before the hard drive. You will, as I said, notice huge increases in load times, but most of all, you will notice how much faster you go from one level to the next with the PS Jailbreak.
If you already have a PS3 console, grab this little gem while it's available. And if you don't yet have a PS3, but plan on buying one, make sure you set aside some money to also add the PS Jailbreak to your must have accessory list. It'll let you get down to playing the game much faster due to less load times, and it also acts to protect your expensive PS3 games from getting scratched or damaged due to regualr use.

LAS VEGAS--If you've won at the casinos here and wonder how to spend your
jackpot, I have a suggestion.
It's the Swiss Army solid-state drive (SSD) that Victorinox, the maker of
Swiss Army branded products, unveiled today at CES 2012.
This is a tiny portable storage device about the size of the small-size
popular Swiss Army tool set. In fact, the storage part can be pulled out and
collapsed into its case just like you can do with a Swiss Army knife.
Victorinox claims that the Swiss Army SSD has a few unique attributes,
including being the word's smallest high-capacity SSD drive on the market, the
only thumb-size storage device that supports USB (2.0 and 3.0) and eSATA
connections, and the only SSD device that comes with a Bi-Stable graphic
display for labeling contents. The graphic display is a tiny 48- by 96-dot LCD
that displays a label that stays on even when the drive is not plugged in.
Other than that, as a storage device, the Swiss Army SSD also offers automatic
backup and synchronization with AES 256 security encryption, ...
