Can you put any power supply in a custom computer or does there have to be a specific one?
I'm getting a x-blaster atx mid tower case and the power supply recommended is to expensive for me
The power-supply you need will depend on the motherboard.
If it's fairly new then it will probably require a 24 pin ATX power supply connector and possibly a 4 pin intel one. Maybe even a 6 pin nvidia one. (You'll need to check your motherboard manual to find which power connectors you need). Then, you need to see how many SATA power connectors, 4 pin molex connectors and pci-e connectors you need for all the other parts inside your computer, like hard-disks, optical drives and high-power graphics cards.
You can buy pretty much any supply you like, just make sure it has all the right connectors.
The wattage is important too - if you have lots to your computer (multiple hard-disks, multiple high-end graphics cards, lots of ram etc) then you'll need a higher wattage supply. As a rule, you can generally assume a 300W supply for a standard consumer end PC, 500W for a moderate gamer or 700W for a high end system.
Remember though, you get what you pay for. Cheaper 'budget' brands may be less stable and burn out faster. If they give a lower quality power output then can also cause PC crashes!
Good luck
