The Life Of A Young Teen

Strumming on a dreadnought acoustic guitar is a favored pastime for teenagers. With nothing better to do with an afternoon free from school, a popular songbook and quiet place to practice will bring about hours of pleasure for the teen. Fighting boredom is difficult if they are going through a stage of no particular interest.

Keeping the mind occupied or being physically active alleviates feelings of lethargy that most teens have at some stage of puberty. If not during the whole stage of it. Keeping up with their peers is essential for them to continue developing social skills, including being able to talk to people. Sharing a graphic lcd with friends to watch a much loved show is great entertainment during the early years.

TV shows have a certain appeal at any age and there are many varieties to be seen. It's the same for reading material. Erotic comics and Japanese cartoons, all good fodder for the transition to adulthood. Learning about the world in a manner that is not too serious relaxes the young person and allows room for growth.

Shopping for fan T-shirts and other memorabilia can be the beginning of a wonderful collection. This in turn will give them something in common with their peers that they can talk about. Feeling at ease with each other is necessary for them to be able to mature. Girls aspire to blossom into young women and boys into men with no doubt.

Teens will take up responsibility when they are encouraged to do so, or when they feel they are ready for it. Learning their own mind from that of their friends may take a little longer to achieve as it is easier to hide behind others or wear a mask that is the same as the people around them. This will have to be initiated by themselves as Independence cannot be forced.

Learning who they are from the viewpoints of self identity or ego, creativity, ability to communicate with others and respect for self and others, are some of the challenges they face. Advice is encouraged to be given by parents and guardians mostly when it is asked for. Adults must be very discerning to know when to offer advice and when to just listen and get them to do all the talking.

Some of the negative aspects of youth growing up involves depressed feelings. This is when adults and peers need to give the most. A loving word or simple act of kindness can make all the difference to a teen.

Giving all the opportunity to them to be involved in life and all it has to offer is something that needs to be well organized and made available to them. Letting them make their own choices will aid their maturity. Life does not have to be all difficult during these years.

I have a 16-pin character LCD that I would like to connect to a solderless breadboard. How can I do this?

There is a picture of the LCD at

I would like to connect the LCD fairly securely to the breadboard so that I can focus on programming it without having to worry about loose connections or electrical shorts. Is there a robust, standard way of doing this?
In response to the first answer, I actually did just that--I bought a 16-pin header (because the LCD itself doesn't have pins, just little plated pads). It would work perfectly if the pins were longer, but as it is, they aren't long enough to go through the plated holes in the LCD and into the breadboard.

Is there a row of pins on the back of the LCD display? If not, you might be able to solder in a "header" which is a row of pins connected by plastic. If you get the ones that are spaced 0.100" apart, you can insert them into a solderless breadboard.

Disney-branded AppClix camera for iPad turns you into the world's happiest shooter (Engadget)

If you thought using the iPad's camera -- or any other tablet, for that matter
-- was an awkward way to do mobile photography... well, you were right. _But_,
this mind-boggling AppClix ($60) is about to take things to a new level. The
bizarre external shooter gives you access to all of its 7.1 megapixels via
Apple's proprietary connector, and you also get an SD card slot, 4X zoom for
distant shots and a 1.5-inch LCD display for "previews." As if the souped-up
specs weren't enough, the portable camera comes in a variety of flavors, so if
Mickey or Minnie Mouse aren't your characters of preference, you'll be glad to
know that you can also choose between Phineas and Ferb, Princes and
Tinkerbell. Oh, and did we mention the Disney Pix editing app? If you're silly
enough to buy this thing, we're told it's a _must-download_.
