Toshiba Portege R705 - New Technology Of Laptop For You

The R705 integrates a 13.3-inch widescreen that boasts a 1,366-by-768 resolution. A higher screen resolution in this price range is a rare find, which is why the ones on the Sony Z116GXS (1,600 by 900) and Lenovo X301 (1,400 by 900) are deemed luxuries.

The full power Intel Core i3 processor that powers the Toshiba Portege R705 is proving in multiple systems, including this one, to be the Swiss Army Knife of processors. That is to say that it is a great all-purpose processor that can handle a little of everything we asked it to do. There were no problem in playing video or editing video in this laptop from Youtube or other video streaming. Sure, if you were going to be editing a lot of HD video on a daily basis you would want to go with a more powerful processor, but the  R705 has enough power to tackle almost nay consumer task; except modern gaming.

Toshiba R705 is the sole consumer model in a new R700 line mainly aimed at corporate customers. Toshiba sells it online for $890, while Best Buy’s site has it at $800. That is about double the price of a top-of-the line netbook, but the R705 is much more powerful than a netbook and is much cheaper than the MacBook Air, which currently starts at $1,500, or the ThinkPad X301 (the latest in the X300 series), which starts at over $2,000.

#### Toshiba 14-inch ultrabook prototype

LAS VEGAS--While Toshiba usually has a flood of new laptops every year, the
company surprised us this CES by highlighting a single model.

Even more unusual, instead of a ready-to-ship product, it is a still-unnamed
14-inch ultrabook prototype. The unit we saw had a Satellite logo on it,
rather than the Portege branding we saw in last year's Z835 (a 13-inch
ultrabook currently available for a rock-bottom $799).
