on eBay, theres a USB to firewire 4 pin converter, I rarely use firewire, and currently use a PCMCIA converter in my tower, I was just wondering if these are any good, and if theres any risk using it? Will it be ok with the unsteady speeds, and a PC-powered 7 port USB 2.0 hub?
I think I've only got a JVC camcorder that uses firewire these days. Can it be used with anything else?

USB 2.0 is not as fast as Firewire. So even if this did work it would still only give you USB2.0 speeds. A chain is only as strong as it's weakest link.
